In the video-installations of Elise van der Linden, moving lightprojections are combined with the room they are in. Sometimes spatial elements are involved.
The art offers an experience in time and space. "The spatial projections can be seen as moving paintings, where the audience becomes part of the artwork by standing in the middle of it. My work represents the passing of time and the sequence of events." sais Van der Linden. I am fascinated by clyclic processes, by repeating a certain moment, you can stay in that moment. It's like time is standing still and continues endless at the same time.
Being shielded or breaking through barriers has a great role in the work. "Places we can not see, or where we can't come, of which we think to catch a glimpse, makes us conscious that we are all locked in our own moment, in our own little world."
Breaking through time and space, in search for what lies beyond, is a strong motivation for the establishment of the work.
